What if climate education felt accessible, hands-on, and immediately usable in your classroom? This interactive workshop invites K-12 educators to explore innovative climate curriculum and activities created by MIT students, faculty, and researchers.

Led by the Day of Climate grantees, this full-day workshop will center on practical strategies, new classroom-ready materials, and approaches that help students connect deeply with climate topics. Most activities are geared toward middle and high school-aged learners, but educators of all levels are encouraged to attend and adapt materials for different audiences.

You’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Experience new climate-focused lessons and activities designed for K–12 learners
  • Learn concrete ways to integrate climate conversations into your existing curriculum
  • Explore materials developed by MIT educators and researchers
  • Connect and collaborate with fellow teachers, administrators, and education partners
  • Learn strategies to engage young learners around climate and sustainability

You’ll leave with ready-to-use resources, new ideas for weaving climate learning into your teaching, and connections to colleagues working toward similar goals.

PDPs: To earn 10 PDP credits in Science & Technology/Engineering Curriculum and Instruction, participants must attend this workshop and complete the short assignment (below, due April 6, 2026) plus one of the following:

  • Complete two self-paced professional development modules (can be accessed here: Professional Development) by July 1, 2026
  • Attend the Day of Climate event at the MIT Museum on Apr 15, 2025

More detailed instructions for submissions will be provided at the February 5th event.

Workshop assignment: Create a brief description and outline for how you plan to incorporate what you’ve learned into your classroom or teaching practice. This can be a new lesson, class, out-of-school activity, etc and must be submitted by April 6, 2026 to dayofclimate@mit.edu.
