Mapping Climate Justice: A Data Storytelling Curriculum for High School Students
This curriculum teaches high school students to investigate climate and environmental justice issues through data storytelling, combining geospatial analysis, narrative, and lived experience to communicate what the data means for people and places impacted by climate challenges.
Across four themed modules covering urban water systems, just transition, food access, and climate action, students build hands-on GIS skills while exploring issues that connect to their own communities. Each module pairs a technical mapping tutorial with a collaborative classroom activity, moving students from reading and analyzing spatial data to constructing stories that can inform decisions and inspire action."
