Becoming Ocean Stewards Through Interdisciplinary Science and Blue Economy Career Exploration
“The Science of The Ocean” is an interdisciplinary educational curriculum designed to introduce students to ocean science, marine biodiversity, climate change, and the interconnected relationship between humans and marine ecosystems. Through interactive lessons, discussions, and collaborative activities, students explore how the ocean regulates climate, supports biodiversity, and sustains life on Earth, while also examining the environmental challenges currently affecting marine systems worldwide.
The curriculum combines concepts from oceanography, climate science, sustainability, blue economy, and blue biotechnology to help students understand how science and innovation can contribute to solving environmental challenges. In addition to building ocean literacy, the program is designed to expose students to the wide range of careers and professional opportunities connected to the ocean, including marine science, biotechnology, conservation, sustainable industry, environmental entrepreneurship, and other emerging sectors within the blue economy. By connecting classroom learning with real-world applications, the curriculum aims to inspire students to become future ocean stewards, innovators, and changemakers.
